Message	I agree with you that fiberglass is a good idea, so long as the gel-coat is solid and blended very well. Tack-welding a piece of metal and trying to blend it would be much more difficult and would be very difficult to reverse later. As for not having the wiper, I don't even use mine...I just keep the rear glass slicked up with Rain-X and the water just slides right off.
